The Jacobite Fleet

Nothing beats being on the water and the best way to do it is by boat. Jacobite’s fleet gets you onto Loch Ness to cruise in comfort. You’ll find our staff friendly and helpful while the audio commentary guides you through the landscape as you sail.

We have three vessels in the fleet. There are toilets on board and we serve a range of light snacks plus soft drinks, wines, spirits and lagers.

And for the nautical enthusiasts, here’s a quick glimpse at the lives of each of our boats.

Jacobite Queen

Jacobite Queen

Built in 1949 by R W Hawthorn Leslie at Hebburn on Tyne, the Jacobite Queen was originally christened the Tyne Queen. Her early days were spent serving as a passenger ferry on the Tyne. We bought her in 1987 and then rebuilt, refurbished and renamed her along the traditional lines of a small steamer. There is accommodation on each of the three centrally heated decks. We’ve double glazed her and today the Jacobite Queen can take up to 159 passengers with plenty of choice for either covered or deck seating. The 450HP Volvo D12 diesel engine gives this 23 metre boat a service speed of 10.5 knots.

Jacobite SpiritJacobite Spirit

Jacobite Spirit joined our fleet in 2003. Following an extensive refit the boat now boasts twin Volvo D7 turbo diesel engine. This makes her wonderfully easy to manoeuvre and gives speeds of up to 10 knots. She can take just over 90 people on board, is centrally heated and has a partially covered after deck. For the really adventurous types the upper deck is open.

Jacobite Legend

This is a boat that turns heads. Sleek, clean lines and a fantastic open plan interior, there’s never been a cruise boat on Loch Ness quite like her. The Jacobite Legend was added to the fleet in 2006 and cruises at a steady 7.5 knots. She can take up to 100 passengers making The Jacobite Legend the perfect floating venue for events, meetings and conferences.

All vessels, machinery, their safety equipment and the company's Domestic Ship Safety Management System are all surveyed annually and audited without notice by the United Kingdom Maritime and Coastguard Agency. Each boat has a bar providing snacks & licensed refreshments. The fleet all have toilets. See our Environmental policy statement
